Equipotential connection in photovoltaic systems

Equipotential connection in photovoltaic systems Grounding devices and protective conductors in photovoltaic systems shall comply with IEC60364-7-712:2017, which provides further information. The minimum cross-sectional area of the equipotential bonding strip should meet the requirements of IEC60364-5-54, IEC61643-12 and GB/T21714.3-2015. If equipotential bonding strips are used as down conductors, their minimum cross-sectional area should be copper wires of 50mm, or equivalent current-carrying capacity conductors. If the equipotential bonding strip is expected to conduct lightning current, its minimum cross-sectional area should be 16mm pin wire, or equivalent current capacity conductor. If the equipotential bonding strip is expected to conduct only induced lightning current, its minimum cross-sectional area shall be 6mm copper wire or equivalent current-carrying capacity conductor. The minimum cross-sectional area of the connecting conductor connecting the conductive parts to the equipotential bonding strip shall be 6mm copper wire, or equivalent current carrying capacity conductor. In the absence of a photovoltaic system connected to a lightning protection system, the minimum cross-sectional area of the connecting conductors connected to the different connecting strips and the conductors connected to the grounding system should be 6mm copper wire, or equivalent current-carrying capacity conductors. Note: The minimum cross-section requirements for conductors vary in some countries. These differences are explained in GB/T 217143-2015. An LPS part that is expected to flow part of the lightning current should comply with IEC 62561 (all parts). When the photovoltaic system is protected by the lightning protection system, a minimum safe separation distance should be maintained between the lightning protection system and the metal structures of the photovoltaic system to prevent part of the lightning current from flowing through these structures. The minimum cross-sectional area of all equipotential bonding conductors is 6mm, with the exception of the ground conductors of class I surge protectors in the main distribution cabinet. If the photovoltaic modules are protected by the lightning protection system but a safe separation distance cannot be maintained between the two, a direct connection should be added between the external lightning protection system and the metal structure of the photovoltaic array. This connection should be able to withstand some of the lightning current. The minimum cross-sectional area of the equipotential bonding conductor shall meet the requirements of IEC60364-5-541EC61643-12 and GB/T217143-2015. The minimum cross-sectional area of all equipotential bonding conductors shall be 16mm, except for equipotential bonding straps for grounding the inverter.
